Before We Talk Hair...
You’re inviting me into a pretty personal part of your wedding day, so it probably helps to know a little about the person who’ll be turning up on the morning...
I’m Charlotte, originally from Lancashire but now living in Stamford with my husband Steve and our two ginger cats, Bilbo & Baggins - who you may well meet when you come for your trial!
I’m probably best described as Type B with a Type A diary! Naturally pretty laid-back and easy-going, but give me a wedding morning and I absolutely want a plan.
I’m also an introverted extrovert. I love meeting new people and having a good chat, but I’m equally happy heading home afterwards for a quiet night and a recharge.
Outside of hair, I love travelling, weekends away, good food, long walks (preferably with a pub stop!) and generally making plans for whatever we’re doing next.
How Did I End Up Doing Bridal Hair?
I’d always been the one doing hair for friends and family, but it wasn’t until lockdown - while planning my own wedding - that the idea of actually doing it as a job popped into my head.
And then it wouldn’t go away!
I signed up for an online bridal hair course, bought myself a mannequin head and spent lockdown practising. A lot.
When the world started opening up again, I decided it was time to learn properly in person too, so in 2022 I headed down to London for an intensive bridal hair course.
I remember the tutor asking me about my Instagram page.
I didn’t have one!
She told me I needed to set one up, so I did.
That same day, my first wedding enquiry landed.
From my own hairdresser.
Who was getting married the following month.
And was an experienced hairstylist herself. 😱
Panic stations.
But I put my big girl pants on and said yes.
I styled her wedding hair in May 2022 and, although I definitely didn’t know it at the time, that one slightly terrifying booking was the start of all of this.
Four years later, I’ve styled more than 150 brides, won The Wedding Industry Awards East Midlands Wedding Hairstylist of the Year 2025 and Best Bridal Hair Stylist at the Beautyfull Awards 2023, as well as becoming a national finalist in 2025.
I’m also really proud to now be a recommended supplier at Tipis at Whatton House and Thetford Farm Barn - two venues I absolutely love working at.
It’s quite surreal thinking back to that mannequin head, a brand-new Instagram page and me wondering whether I was actually brave enough to say yes to my first bride.
Turns out I was. 🤍
